In the apartment they shared, Steph traced a finger over a picture of the three of them. Somehow, this managed to survive everything: a picture of Steve, herself, and Bucky at Coney Island on a fun summer day when they were barely out of their teens. When Steve sat her down in this new time, he told her about what happened to Bucky. She had been practically inconsolable and just cried as her twin held her tight. It was strange: Steve being a big guy now and herself not just a slip of a girl anymore.
But now...life settled into some kind of normalcy, living with Steve in 2013. Steph hugged herself after placing the picture back down. What would Bucky say if he caught her moping around like this?
Her phone went off and Steph wiped at her eyes before walking over and picking it up, sliding her finger cross the glass screen (a gift from Stark, son of Howard, a spitting image of his father) so that she could answer it.
The Winter Soldier had been spotted and they need to suit up and get down as fast as they could to offer Romanoff assistance. Steve had been out buying groceries and was already on his way. Steph quickly suited up and made her way down, getting a lift from SHIELD agents.

Date: 2013-06-07 02:28 pm (UTC)He had heard about the Winter Solider, the things he had done back in the day, how he was kept "under ice" for most of the time instead of constantly like he was. It was odd, hearing the Soviets finding a way to prolong life, even though that meant you missed out on a lot of it. But he had to be stopped and brought in no matter what. Maybe they could even get some answers out of the Russians.
He was at HQ a little after Steph, having to put the groceries away and then suit up, but only by a few minutes.
"What's the report?" he asked.

Date: 2013-06-07 09:58 pm (UTC)Even though he hadn't been to the East Coast of the USA in as long as he could remember (and it almost bothered him that he had been here, but he couldn't recall it), the familiarity was perfect. He knew; he had also studied. He hit his targets one after the other, quietly. On the go, he picked up the latest updates in technology. Got better at being a ghost in this day and age. But he'd made a couple of slips.
One in upstate New York. One down in Pennsylvania, heading back up towards the Big Apple.
Two people were dead. One was gone without a trace. And an explosion had murked up the signs of what his mission might have been.

Date: 2013-06-08 06:34 pm (UTC)As soon as they were briefed by Fury, they were dropped off where the suspected assassin was. The plan was simple: one of them was to lure them out, the other was to take him down. Steph readied herself, knowing that Steve would be watching her back. His latest target was said to be in this area. So he had ot still be around.
"See anything yet, Steve?" she asked into her communicator.
